Continuous Beverage Syrup Blending
Process Description
Finished beverage syrup is produced by blending water, sweeteners and flavor concentrates. Sweeteners are supplied from storage tanks. Flavor concentrate is unloaded from portable tote tanks. A metering system controls the rate at which the individual components are added. The various solutions are metered through an in-line mixer into the syrup changeover tanks. Two tanks are supplied to simplify switching from one flavor to another. The finished syrup is fed to the carbo-coolers by the syrup feed pumps.

Process System Features
- Mass flow meters yield highly accurate measurement of flow rate and totalization of ingredient usage.
- Positive displacement pumps with variable speed drives (VFD’s) maintain consistent flow.
- Ingredient addition accuracy of up to 0.25% of required flow.
- Programmable logic control system allows easy changes between recipes.
- Changeover tanks allow flavor changes with minimal downtime.
- Product lines are chased with treated water for maximum product recovery.
- Automatic CIP allows cleaning one tank or line while continuing production in other parts of the system.
- Data logging of operational data permits historical analysis of operations.
- On-line verification of meter accuracy can be provided using comparison of flow totalizers, storage tank changes and filling records.
